Our History

Medi-Plumb Installations (MPI) was set up in 2005 by Paul Tierney and a business partner, with the first contract awarded that year on the new Derby super hospital. Early growth included work across the UK and in Europe, including a new military hospital in Gibraltar, and major installations such as new ring mains for Oxygen and Medical Air at Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield.

From 2010, MPI began securing work directly rather than solely as a subcontractor, achieving ISO 9001, CHAS and Constructionline accreditations, and completing its biggest contract to date at Leighton Hospital, Crewe. The company continued to grow through design and installation contracts, laboratory gas projects at the Universities of Sheffield and Liverpool, and membership of the British Compressed Gases Association (BCGA) and the Institute of Healthcare Engineering & Estate Management (IHEEM).

Since then MPI has continued to grow year on year, securing its first £1m+ project, delivering the Nightingale North-East COVID Hospital during the pandemic, and reinvesting in staff, vehicles and premises to support ongoing growth.
